1st Annual LYBSA Hit-A-Thon.

LYBSA will be holding their 1st Annual Hit-A-Thon fundraiser on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 9:00 AM. The rain out date will be the following Saturday, May 7th. The Hit-A-Thon will be used to help keep future registration fees down and help with the many operating and maintenance fees that we experience throughout the season. The Hit-A-Thon is designed to help support LYBSA and ensure that the girls and boys can continue to enjoy the game of baseball/softball, while providing them a chance to get out to the ball park and have some fun before the season gets underway.

What's a Hit-A-Thon?

A Hit-A-Thon is a hitting contest for all age groups. Each player will get three hits off a pitching machine or if they are T-Ball players they will use a tee. The longest hit out of the three hits will be used and recorded on their pledge sheet, with the exception of the T-ball players. They will use the total of all three hits combined. The measured distance will be from home plate to where the ball comes to rest or stops rolling in the outfield, this is for all age groups. All measurements will be in feet.

What does each player need to do?

  • Each player will receive a "Pledge Sheet"
  • He/she will get pledges from relatives, friends, neighbors, etc.
  • Bring pledge sheet and any money collected to the "Hit-A-Thon" on April 30th

Pledge Amount and how pledges are raised?

We would like to have a minimum pledge of $35 dollars per individual. Each individual will receive a pledge sheet to record their pledges on. Distances will be measured in feet and the ball hit the furthest (including the bounce and the role) will be used for the pledge hit. Example: If the player's longest hit is 100 feet and the pledge amount is $.10 per foot, the total pledge amount would be $10.

When will the money be collected?

All fixed pledges should be brought with the player on the day of the Hit-A-Thon. Once the event is over all pledge sheets will be returned to the individual so they can notify the sponsors of the amount due and collect it. All money should be collected and turned into LYBSA not later than Monday, May 9th or May 16th if rescheduled due to rain. Please make checks payable to LYBSA or Lawson Baseball Association.

Prizes?

  • Each child participating will receive a T-Shirt and a coupon for a free hot dog, bag of chips, and a soda.
  • Awards will be awarded for first through third places in each age group for the furthest hit ball. 1st place will receive a trophy and 2nd & 3rd place will receive a medal.
  • There will be prizes handed out for individual achievements as well, like the longest hit ball, and the greatest total donations raised by a player.
  • The overall team with the greatest total amount of donations will receive a pizza party.

During the Hit-A-Thon we will be having other activities going on as well for the entire family to enjoy. We will have the grill fired up cooking hamburgers and hot dogs. There will be a Home-Run Derby going on all day that you can get registered for and participate in, the prize for the winner will be a 50/50 split. We will also be holding a Washer tournament for anyone and everyone to participate in and we will be holding a 50/50 raffle as well.

So everyone plan on attending the Hit-A-Thon and feel free to invite anyone else that may enjoy a day out at the ball park, especially your sponsors.
